Horse equine Websites

Equestrian and horse riding websites for equine businesses

We design and build equestrian websites for horse riding centres, livery yards, horse trainers and equine businesses.

Here are a few examples of equestrian website features specific to equine businesses that we recommend.

We can provide an e-commerce element for selling horse accessories and clothing.

Getting a website up and running is the first step, then gaining ongoing support and training to ensure the website continues to display useful and up to date content for visitors.

We buy and mange the domain, the email and website hosting and keep our prices competitive.

The websites are all monitored for malicious interest and backed up.

1. Images

Visually the website must include high quality images of horses and possibly videos to show the visitors your services in the best possible light.

We source high quality stock images and advise on the types of images required for different parts of the website.

We use a combination of your own horse images with the right type of stock images to make the right impact. Quite often a good website is about showcasing your services to meet customer expectations.

2. Multilingual Support

We make websites here in the UK for UK visitors but some horse dealers require a website offering different languages for potential clients.

It is good practice for all businesses targeting Europe to add a multilingual feature, this is what will be an option or will be standard for some of our clients.

3. Legal GDPR policies

Every website is required to follow the legal GDPR guidelines and best practice when it comes to cookie policy, storing personal data and ensuring you do not infringe on copy-write protections.

4. Maps and location details

Giving your visitors your location if you are a physical business will help them find you.

website maps

4. Copywriting - about us

We emphasise the importance of writing a compelling and unique about us page to show your passion for horses and your commitment to your business. How the business started, what your experience is and your values as a horseman or woman.

The about us page is often the first page a visitor goes to know as they want to know more to find out if they can trust your.

horse websites

5. Booking and contact forms

We don't want to lose a single visitor so we will guide them to make that booking, pick up the phone or make that sale.

Call to action buttons are a good way to guide your visitors to the right pages to get in touch or sign up for your newsletter.

6. Blog and events

Blogging with information about your business, your interests and your upcoming events you can share on social media.

Horse websites

Vet website design

10 Veterinary Websites For Veterinary Surgeries 2022

Looking for inspiration for Veterinary websites in the UK for your next website project? Here are some nice, clean modern Veterinary Clinic designs.

Veterinary Services have been in demand since lockdown period as owning a pet became more viable. I even heard on the radio that people are walking away from jobs if they can't work from home, just so they can be with their pets.

Pets offer a great source of comfort, dogs keep us fit, and the love most animals give is really priceless.

There is an estimated 12.5 million dogs in the UK, according to PFMA. All these dogs will require vaccinations and regular health checks. Vets are in demand, with some reports suggesting their is a Vet shortage in the UK.

Below is a list of 10 modern, clean and useful Veterinary websites that will gain new clients and offer great online services.

Your website and other digital marketing practices will ensure your business is competitive and giving customers the right information. The website designer will focus on user-ability, accessibility, functionality and branding.

The main design is a horizontal menu, white space contrasted with bold colours and clear fonts and buttons.

WordPress

1. Cobie Vet Care, Eastbourne

Website is nicely branded in Blue and Pink with a lovely image on the homepage to get that instant connection.

Contact form on the home page for all enquiries with a map in the footer.

Contact details on every page and the menu and drop down content directs people to the correct information.

Good inbuilt SEO with all the meta tags and descriptions correctly reference.

Corbie veterinary care

2. St Anne's Vets, Eastbourne

Bold and clean design with good use of space and colour, images and graphics.

Sliders are no longer necessary on a website, they can date and some may slow a site down, but this slider only has 2 slides with nice images.

This is a Group of 4 Veterinary Practices so its designed to offer information on all four locations, they even have a virtual tour so you can see where your dog will be operated on.

The site includes recent customer reviews which offers useful information to prospective clients.

St Anne's Veterinary Group

3. Coastway Vets

Group of 6 different Veterinary Surgeries so this is a big concern and a very well established business.

Good use of colour, graphics and images offering customers a good feeling about the service they should expect.

Coastway Vets

4. Tower Veterinary Group

Meeting the team on the home page seems like a nice idea, and it is, the problem being is that staff change often and this image is now probably out of date.

However, the site offers useful information, testimonials, a registration form, emergency contact telephone number action button and is easy to navigate.

I would use more colour and more images on the site but the SEO is good as it was found very easily.

Tower Veterinary Group

5. Chester Gates Vets

Another website made with WordPress that offers a nicely put together design with a puppy on the home page and colour branding throughout.

They have used two menus which is a good idea for some websites to give visitors main content and secondary content at a glance.

I chose this website as it is a good example of what can be achieved using WordPress.

Chester Gates Veterinary Clinic

6. Abingdon Veterinary Clinic

This theme offers a nice layout with a 4 slide slider which is very inviting to visitiors.

The theme is fresh and the colours compliment each other well. The grey and green works really well, easy on the eye.

The mega menu is horizontal, rather than vertical which is nice and unique.

Hover effect call to action buttons work well and I like the compact style on the homepage.

Abingdon Veterinary Clinic

7. Goddard Veterinary Group

Love the image on the home page and they are using transparency in the header which looks nice.

They have added the Facebook and Twitter feeds on the homepage, this is often done as a tool to keep people informed of up to date news in real time.

They also have a branded chat feature, so people can chat to reception.

Good use of background graphics as too much white back ground can be boring.

Goddard Veterinary Group

8. The Kingston Veterinary Group

The video of the Highland Terrier is a nice touch. with the call to action buttons and welcome message.

The homepage has customer reviews and links to the four branches.

There is a link to another website selling pet supplies, so you could add an ecommerce subdomain to the website.

You can order repeat subscriptions on the website and all the information you need is easy to navigate.

Kingston Veterinary Group

9. Wolfe Vets

The colour branding looks nice but the font on the menu is a bit small and probably wouldn't pass W3C accessibility guidelines.

There is a testimonial slider but it could do with a heading to introduce the content.

The facilities would look nice with graphics.

At the bottom of the page there is an Instagram feed which feeds in all the photos of animals coming into the practice.

Business websites do need to display policies and procedures but I personally wouldn't put this on the home page, this could be on a separate page and linked to.

Wolfe Vets

10. Norwood Veterinary Group

Finaly, Norwood Road Veterinary Surgery is a good example of clean and crisp site with content in all the right places.

The homepage contains reviews and an introductory video for visitors and prospects.

You can request a video chat with the vet using VetsNow.

Good use of graphics and the ability to pay online is also a really useful feature.

Norwood Road Veterinary Surgery

Summary - Veterinary website design

We use WordPress for a lot of our website projects as it is highly versatile and easy to work with both from a design point of view, and for the business to manage.

Getting nice images of the animals and staff in their uniforms sets the tone of the business, images of puppies and smiles hooks people in.

The branding trickles down from the logo design, so the logo is a dominant feature of the website. The main menu can be on the side, but works better if it is horizontal so people can see exactly what menu options to choice.

Features of a Trade website

Your website is your digital business card and is absolutely necessary to gain new customers in your local area.

1. Logos of accreditations

Gas engineers are required by law to have completed a Gas Safety Certificate. This needs to be prominent on the website to give your visitors peace of mind and confidence with your knowledge and ability.

Any other certification you have should be on every page of the website as people may not land on the homepage.

Some people will be seeking businesses that have the full up to date accreditations so if you leave this off the website then you could be loosing customers.

2. Services

What services do you offer? A lot of time needs to be put into crafting the services pages to include specific details of companies you source your products from and specifications.

The services pages should include photographs of the work you have completed along with testimonials from satisfied customers.

Create a separate page or tab for each service i.e. Heating, plumbing, boilers this is for SEO purposes so Google will pick up and index the different services.

3. Contact details

Ideally, your contact telephone number should be prominent on every page of your website so people can call you in an emergency.

Do not be tempted to add your contact details just on the contact page. You could have the telephone number or email address in the footer of the site so people can call you without having to jump to another page.

4. Testimonials

People have begun to rely on testimonials so it is important that you seek feedback after every job and add this to the website.

Send your customer a little thank you for your business email and request a testimonial, most people will oblige.

5. About the company

One of the most important pages on any website is the about you page. People buy people so they like to know who you are and what your approach maybe.

If you do other work or have an interesting hobby then add this to your About Page, this help people to connect with you.

6. Social media

Send your visitors to your social media platforms.

Copywriting

Copywriting for websites: A complete guide

Copywriting for websites requires thought and planning before you even start writing a single word. It is a good idea to sit down with your customer, or your copywriter, to discuss who you are and who the customers are and create a copy strategy.

Copywriting is the art of writing persuasive content that sells products and services, it is a one man sales team. The content a copywriter will create is designed to make a positive impact and help the business achieve it's goals.

Create a content strategy document

Your copywriting strategy document will walk you through a number of key factors that will shape the style of writing required for the project.

The website project may also include marketing emails so the style of writing must be consistent with all communication channels.

Here is a list of website copywriting elements to consider when drafting your copywriting strategy.

[lwptoc min="1" depth="1" numeration="none"]

13 elements of good copywriting

1. Targeting new or existing customers?

The target audience will be the main driver in how you style your copy.

Are you communicating to new or existing customers? Are you selling or providing a service?

Your website is a not only a place to attract new business, it is also a great resource to educate and inform existing customers.

You maybe writing training material to employees, or you maybe writing sales adverts for retailers. Knowing who you are writing for is an important factor.

The focus of the project is 'who are you communicating to'? I personally do not like overly friendly sales people, but do expect overly friendly service people with companies I engage with.

Here are a few things to consider when detailing target audience:

  • Age
  • Location
  • Wealth
  • Sex
  • Business person
  • Stay at home mother
  • Life experience
  • Health
  • Nationality
  • Culture
  • Religion
  • Motivation

Obviously a lot of these will not be relevant, but it is a good idea to gain as much information as possible to get the best possible outcome.

Copywriting could be for a general e-retailer or it could be for a GP. You could be writing to a young audience of children or your audience maybe very passionate about a charity or cause.

Understand the person/s you are writing for.

If you are an existing business you can get a lot of data from your website analytics.

2. Copywriting objectives

Once you know the audience you are communicating to then you need to understand why and what you expect the outcomes to be.

Copywriting objectives could be:

1 Buy into the business

About us. The about us page of a website is one of the most important pages. People want to know all about you and often enjoy the stories behind the business. Writing a compelling and honest About Us page will gain trust and appreciation from visitors. It could even be the reason why someone buys or does not buy from you.

2 Sell products

The product descriptions on an e-commerce site should feature dimensions, materials, benefits, features etc.

3 Get people to sign a petition

If you are working for a charity or working for a cause then you may want to write copy that highlights a particular problem and explain why it needs to be reviewed by Parliament.

To get people to sign you will need to inform readers of all the reasons why they should sign the petition.

4 Get people to donate

Many charities are now heavily reliant on donations, if this is the case then there should be a donate page with a few words encouraging your supporters to donate.

One way of doing that is to write case studies. Tell a story about a person or situation that benefitted from the charity and that could be the push needed to get a donation.

Donations is a good example of finding a target audience.

5 Get more Membership sign-ups

Clubs and Societies rely on paid memberships so writing compelling content to encourage visitors to sign up to a paid membership subscription.

3. Get the tone right

It is important that the tone of your writing meets the expectations of the audience and is consistent.

You can choose to be business like and professional or more chatty but you don't want to mix the two.

The reader must feel that when she/he is dealing with the business that their expectations are met and they know who they are dealing with at any one time.

Consistency builds trust. If someone buys into your business because you come across very friendly then when you email them you are very matter of fact, there will be confusion.

The tone of voice for your business must be established in your copywriting strategy that others can pick up.

4. The art of storytelling

Storytelling is used by copywriters to connect with audiences by offering them stories they can relate to. We often build relationships with people with shared experiences and through stories we can show others we understand their pain points.

Your service offering has more meaning when others can read case studies.

Products are more appealing when we read the reviews of how others have enjoyed the product and how its helped them.

This is why blog posts are effective because they are telling a story to an audience that either needs advice or has an interest in what we do.

5. Be a subject matter expert

Write with confidence and write with lots of facts and data to show you are an expert in your field or that you know where to source relevant statistics.

Sounding like an expert people will be more likely to trust that you have the skills and knowledge to help them.

If you have expert knowledge then share it with others, they will appreciate you have taken the time and effort to write important information.

6. Be honest

Copywriters communicate the facts to the wider world. They are not paid to write dishonest content for a quick sale.

We live in a world where social media can ruin a business in one tweet. One business was destroyed by fake reviews on Facebook.

Integrity and transparency will be the key to every successful business so a writer should never be asked to be 'economical with the truth'.

The same can be said about being honest when things go wrong. I.e. if a server goes down then apologise and be truthful about when the server is expected to be fixed.

7. Design appealing CTS's in best locations

The copywriter will design the appropriate call to action buttons to induce an action using an appropriate phrase:

  • Buy Now
  • Register
  • Find out more
  • Get a free quote

These short phrases are designed to gain a lead or make a sale. The copywriting content should communicate clearly to the reader what they should do to get that deal.

Call to actions are placed at points throughout the website to guide visitors from various pages they may land.

8. Summarize points

Website content is written in blocks and summarized to make reading quicker and easier.

Short descriptive headers give the reader an idea of the upcoming paragraph.

The content offers links to further reading and key points are highlighted for the reader to digest.

Making bullet point lists breaks down content.

Website designers will make good use of tabs, accordions and toggles for quick access to information.

9. Include sense of urgency

If you are paying good money for a copywriter you will want a good ROI. The copywriter will usually add a sense of urgency somewhere near the call to action to ensure the visitor follows through with the sale or donation.

The content could include a sale end date, or it could offer a percentage discount for a limited time.

Giving the reader a sense of now or never will help them to make a positive and decisive decision.

10. Include icons, graphics, highlighters

Lots of writing on a web page is boring and difficult to digest so we use graphics, icons, videos, images and highlighters to break down the content to make it easier for the reader. We can do that using tools such as Canva and Adobe.

A good copywriter will include graphics, icons and highlighters so important words and phrases pop out on the page.

Separators can be used to separate blocks of content.

Images and videos can also be included to emphasis key points to the reader.

11. Writing product descriptions

Writing product descriptions and sales copy requires a detailed knowledge of the product, the features, the benefits, unique selling points, variations etc.

Include if the product is certified with logo's and link to certification body.

Does the product solve a problem? Highlight the problem solving benefit with a case study where possible.

The copywriter could add comparisons, reviews and images of the product being used not just on a white background.

12. SEO friendly

Website copy has to be SEO friendly for search engines so the content can be indexed properly

Copywriter will incorporate keywords and phrases in the right places and add internal and external links if necessary to increase SEO score.

The SEO should not change the quality of the writing, so it will not always be possible to achieve a 100% SEO from a piece of copywriting.

13. Spelling and grammar

It goes without saying that a piece of writing should not contain spelling mistakes but should also be grammatically correct throughout.

There are lots of tools to check spelling and grammar. Writing in Word first gives you tools to check grammar and spell check, as long as it is in UK English not USA English.

14. Avoid slang and jargon

Your audience will determine how formal or informal your writing will be but never use jargon, acronyms, slang.

Summary

Whether you hire a copywriter or do it yourself it is good to understand the concept of copywriting, that we are communicating persuasively to prospects, we are helping them solve a problem, we are offering clear and simple benefits and features with a sense of urgency.

This is why I always encourage customers to write blogs posts as it is good writing practice.

Crowdfunding

Create a campaign website to education and inform

Create a campaign website to inform, educate, gain donations, volunteers and participants for fundraising events and generally increase support for your cause.

The website is the main resource to publish data, quotes, videos and offer templates so people can write to their MPs. The cause could be political or it could be about children who need help, animal causes or those vulnerable such as refugees.

Elements to a campaign website

The website can request newsletter sign ups, can offer details of events, links to petitions for people to sign, videos and podcasts and Twitter feeds with real time discussions and information. It can request donations, find volunteers and advocates and even sell branded merchandise.

Any campaign can have a website or landing page

It doesn't matter what topic it is, whether you are campaigning to remove cladding from buildings, campaigning against fly tipping or campaigning to raise money for the Church roof, a website is a platform to share all the details to the world.

Here are some examples of campaigning websites and campaign themes for ideas on for your campaign.

1. Salisbury for Europe

Salisbury for Europe campaign website

The Salisbury for Europe website was designed to attract and gain support for the Remain campaign in Salisbury.

The website contains a list of newsletters, a list of leaflets of events, social media feeds and details about the campaign that is of interest to readers.

Salisbury for Europe is now part of the Wiltshire Alliance for Europe Campaign.

2. Good wish theme

charity website

This bold template comes in 8 different designs all with customizable layouts.

The events page can be displayed as a calendar or a list of events with an inbuilt giving plug-in to take donations. This theme has two builder options: WP Bakery or Elements for you to pick your preferred website builder.

The site displays the donations values which is nice and encourages more donations. The sign up to newsletters and testimonials modules are nicely designed so you can you could actually sell t-shirts or promotion material as it comes with e-commerce.

3. Charity Crowdfunding

Crowdfunding website

A crowdfunding website campaign can raise awareness of a particular issue that people may not be aware of. The website can also raise much needed funds.

My friend recently lost her brother and is crowdfunding for the widow and her baby nephew for some financial help.

The website can gain much needed volunteers and cash and generate a lot more interest then if you were to use a Crowdfunding platform.

The theme is a nice design with mega menu option, blog, events and the donations can come through PayPal (free), Stripe, and Authorize.net.

Other features include a shop for selling merchandise, multilingual, lots of icons, mobile responsive, Google fonts, slider revolutions and unlimited colours.

4. European Movement

European Movement website

The European Movement supports 100 community groups across the UK working and campaigning to uphold European rights, standards and values here in the UK. The Executive Committee is chaired by Andrew Adonis and the President of the patrons is Lord Heseltine.

Dorset for Europe is one of the local Communities in our area and they do a lot of work to promote the actions of the present Government against our rights as EU citizens.

5. Liberty

Liberty website

This WordPress website is strong and bold and immediately draws you to join their campaign as soon as you reach the front page.

The website has a stand alone donations page and join us page are both on an external domain, so this website is linked to another website for the technical functionality.

I find the actual design to be a little stark and I would make it a bit softer in terms of font. It feels very impersonal and dominant.

6. Defund the BBC

Defund the BBC Campaign website

This website to defund the BBC is a perfect example of what you can do if you feel something needs to change.

Funding the BBC with TV licenses then prosecuting those that do not pay is not a popular process with many and this group have decided to take it on.

They have even created some merchandise which is not just about raising funds, but getting the message out there and use WooCommerce to sell their wares. They use Gofundme.com to collect donations so this is an external link.

7. Mike Cox Liberal Democrat

Mike Cox Lib Dem website

This website is a campaign for Mike Cox the local Lib Dem for Christchurch and East Dorset.

The website is created in Nation Builder specifically used for the campaign functionality of gaining donations, sign ups, volunteers, news, events and more.

The website builder is not one I would choose for a campaign as the website builder is hard to work out and rather clunky with specific settings but it does have some very good built in features such as donations and subscribe.

8. Never more needed

Never more needed

Another nice campaign website made in WordPress for flexility and simplicity.

The message is clear, Charities have been at the forefront of helping communities through the crisis and will continue to do so once the Virus is under control.

Charities play a vital part in picking up the pieces and supporting the most vulnerable during challenging times. However, they have lost their fundraising channels due to Covid so they also need the Government and MP's to review legislation to help this sector.

There are lots of resources for people to help and good use of hashtags for social media promotions.

Summary

Create a campaign website to gain more support for your cause with a dedicated self hosted website as it gives you a platform to highlight issues, raise awareness, promote fund raising events, host webinars and write a lot more about your cause.

A Campaign website will be the main point of reference for everything you are doing with links to other partner sites. You can take donations, gain supporters and volunteers and publish what every you feel is relevant and pressing.

With so much turmoil and so much dissatisfaction I would urge you to create a website to campaign about a cause close to your heart and let people know the what, the why and the actions needed for change.

Get in touch if you would like some help.
