Green Cottage RDA is a local charity that offers Riding for the Disabled.
The RDA does an amazing job of helping children and families have some special time with the ponies every week, the children learn to ride, play games and meet with their friends while the parents take time to form friendships and watch their children enjoying themselves.
Enriching lives through horses
The RDA does not charge its families for pony rides so relies on volunteers and sponsorship to help feed the ponies and buy all the equipment they need.

Giving children confidence
Animals are very therapeutic, especially horses and ponies. They can be very gentle and many have an acute awareness of the humans around them. The ponies are Green Cottage RDA have impeccable manners and love nothing more than a bit of attention from the children. Here are some of the things the children gain from RDA.

- Riding lessons
- Riding games
- Regular riding out of the arena
- Learning about horse
- Making new friends
Summary
I thoroughly enjoyed working at Green Cottage RDA and working with the children, the ponies and the other volunteers.
Although there are a lot of volunteers, there are a lot of jobs that need doing and in some cases every child needs 3 volunteers.
If you would like to help then you can go to the website and contact them for volunteer opportunities.
